Traffic Management Operative (TMO)
What does a TMO (Traffic Management Operative) actually do?
Colloquially known as a TMO (practising warrant) and TMO-NP (non practising), you become part of the TTM (Temporary Traffic Management) crew.
When you have completed this warrant, you can work as a TMO.
Once onsite, and after being briefed by the STMS in charge, you can -
- Mind a worksite in the absence of the STMS.
- Set up a worksite for shoulder activities or roadside where TTM is clear of the live lane.
- Undertake a roadside activity (on 60km/h or less road).
- Complete an inspection activity.
Here are some of the roles a TMO can progress to -
- STMS Cat A, B, C road environments
- A Traffic Operations Manager
- A TTM Mentor, TTM Assessor, or TTM Trainer
- A TTM Planner, TMP Approver
